Saheliyon ki Bari

Stroll through fruit tree groves and a rose lawn to enter Saheliyon ki Bari - a royal pleasure park designed specially for 48 maids who were a part of Maharaja Sangram Singh's dowry.

Built by Maharaja Sangram Singh, Saheliyon ki Bari is a fascinating example of Rajput love for luxury and leisure.

The main section of Saheliyon ki Bari consists of a large marble water pool flanked on four corners by fabulously carved black marble cenotaphs with a pure white marble pavilion in the center. Each of these marble pavilions are mounted with exquisitely carved marble birds with pointed beaks spurting water into the central pool.

Be enchanted as your eyes rest on the marvelous 'rain fountain' that was built by Maharaja Bhopal Singh. The concept was to create an illusion of royal ladies dancing in rhythm with rain.

Saheliyon ki Bari was restricted to the ladies of the royal household so that they could come here and frolic amidst unparalleled beauty. It is quite exciting to watch life size marble elephants and lion spurting water into a central water pool.

Water pools and fountains at the Saheliyon ki Bari draw water from the Fateh Sagar Lake. The marble kiosks attached to the Bari walls display amazing trelliswork.

Another attraction at the Saheliyon ki Bari is the royal museum. See everything from stuffed cobras to artifacts from the royal household.
