ITINERARY: PUSHKAR FAIR ITINERARY 2010
Nov 05 (Friday): Arrival Delhi
Upon arrival the representative will welcome each member with garlands, cold towels and soft drinks/mineral water. After the welcome, we drive in an Air-conditioned Car / Coach to the hotel of your choice.
Nov 06 (Saturday): Delhi
Today you will travel to various tourist attractions of Delhi. Travel to Old Delhi where the Raj Ghat stands as a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, see the Universal Mosque of Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, and tour the Red Fort. Visit the fabled Chandni Chowk on rickshaws. Here, alleys filled with Gold and Silversmiths, the exotic spice market and colorful fabric merchants are but some of the few sights that will amaze and tempt you. Return to bustling New Delhi and visit the Emperor Humayun's Tomb, the Qutab Minar. Drive past to the India Gate, the Houses of Parliament, and the Presidential Palace (Rashtrapati Bhawan). We also visit the Crafts Museum with it's village setting and craftsmen from various parts of India displaying their work. Dinner at the Chor Bizzare restaurant, serving Kashmiri cuisine
Nov 07 (Sunday): Delhi - Agra (By road - 4 hours drive) You will travel to Agra. Drive through the vast farmlands of Uttar Pradesh State. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel of your choice. During Agra sightseeing tour, visit the Agra Fort, standing testimony in red sandstone to the story of the Great Mughals. At sunset, visit the legendary Taj Mahal, poetry in marble and a symbol of eternal love and one of the Wonders of the World. After Agra sightseeing tour return to the hotel for a dinner
Nov 08 (Monday): Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur (By road - 6 hours drive)
This morning on your Pushkar Festival tour, you will travel to Jaipur en-route the ghost-city built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar and one of the finest examples of Mughul architecture in India - Fatehpur Sikri, built entirely of red sandstone and now declared as a World Heritage Monument. Tour the tomb of the holy saint Salim Chisti, where we see some of the earliest examples of intricate marble lattice work and luminescent designs in black mother of pearl. On arrival, check in to the hotel of your choice. Overnight stay in Jaipur
Nov 09 (Tuesday): Jaipur
Today on Pushpar Festival Tour with India Welcomes, you will visit Amber Fort, where you ascend the hill like a Maharaja on the back of an elephant. Afternoon, city tour of Jaipur, which includes visits to the City Palace of the Jaipur Maharaja, the honey-comb designed Hawa Mahal also known as the Palace of Winds from where the royal ladies, who lived in seclusion, observed life on the outside yet remained hidden inside. Also visit the amazingly accurate Jantar Mantar stone Observatory. Overnight stay in Jaipur. Note: We will arrange to visit a local family home to learn about their religion, culture, and joint family system. Evening tea and some light snacks will also be served.
Nov 10 (Wednesday): Jaipur - Bikaner (By road - 6 hours drive)
Today we will take a tour to Bikaner, situated on the western edge of the Great Indian Thar Desert. On arrival, check in to the hotel of your choice. Overnight stay in Bikaner.
Nov 11 (Thursday): Bikaner
Enjoy early morning game viewing during Gajner Black Buck Sanctuary jeep safari. The city is encircled by high walls and is the home of the Junagarh fort, built in the 16th century. The fort houses palaces, a mosque and temples. Its 37 pavilions and windows in stone filigree work are easily some of the best in the region. Also, this fort is one of the best preserved in the region and some archeologists compare it to the fabulous Mehrangarh Fort of Jodhpur. During Bikaner tour, you will visit the Karni Devi Temple and the Camel Breeding farm.
Nov 12 (Friday): Bikaner - Jaisalmer (By road - 6 hours drive)
Today we will travel to Jaisalmer from Bikaner. This city fort built of yellow sandstone ethereally rises out of the sands, and is home to several intricately carved havelis (small palaces owned by nobles and rich merchants). On arrival, check in to hotel of your choice. Overnight stay at hotel in Jaisalmer.
Nov 13 (Saturday): Jaisalmer
On Jaisalmer tour, visit the Jaisalmer Fort, Jain Temples and the Havelis. Many monuments are witness to the great talent of stone masons who covered the city with limestone carvings. Homes built between the 12th and 15th centuries are still inhabited today. Enjoy your evening with a trip to the sand dunes nearby. Overnight stay at the hotel in Jaisalmer.
Nov 14 (Sunday): Jaisalmer - Jodhpur (By road - 5 hours drive)
Today, you will travel to Jodhpur en-route Pokhran. The white washed houses of this city shine out from a distance. On arrival, check in to the hotel of your choice. You may opt for evening jeep safari to Rohet to visit the Bishnoi tribals settlements. The Bishnois are the worlds oldest conservationists- renowned for their ardor in protecting the local flora and fauna. Bishnoi Village safari offers a rich cultural experience. Dinner at the hotel.
Nov 15 (Monday): Jodhpur
During Jodhpur tour, see the Mehrangarh Fort, which Kipling called one of the grandest sights in India. The 15th century Mehrangarh (majestic) Fort towers 400 feet high and was never captured. From the courtyard you can see the fantastic `jali' (lattice) work that almost entirely covers the sandstone walls and balconies. Enjoy the view of the beautifully decorated dancing hall, the royal bedroom, jewel-studded robes, ornate baby cradles, solid silver elephant-seats and palanquins. Later visit the royal cenotaphs at Jaswant Thada, the pillared marble memorial to the popular ruler Jaswant Singh II. Visit the Clock Tower bazaar area and shop for souvenirs or handicrafts. Dinner at the hotel.
Nov 16 (Tuesday): Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur (By road - 7 hours drive)
Today, you will travel to Udaipur en-route Ranakpur. Halt at Ranakpur and visit beautiful Jain temples of Ranakpur. These temples are superbly preserved in near perfect condition. The most distinctive feature are the 29 halls of the main temple, some octagonal and many more than one story high, each dissected by 1444 pillars, each sculpted with unique designs, of which no two are the exactly alike. The carvings are on the walls, while musicians and dancers have been modeled out of brackets between the pillars and the ceiling. Lunch at the midway restaurant. After lunch at Ranakpur, we continue our travel tour to Udaipur. One of the most romantic cities of India, Udaipur is also known as the City of Lakes.

Nov 17 (Wednesday): Udaipur
During Udaipur sightseeing trips, travel to the City Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari (Garden where women of the royal household would meet), Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandir (folklore museum) and the Jagdish temple (Built in 1651 AD by Maharana Jagat Singh, this Indo-Aryan temple is the most beautiful temple of Udaipur). Also see the Artist place to see miniature paintings being painted. Late afternoon, we have a boat ride around the fabulous Lake Pichola, which will include a visit to another island palace called the Jagmandir. After Udaipur sightseeing trips, return back you hotel. Overnight stay at Udaipur.
Nov 18 (Thursday): Udaipur - Pushkar (By road - 6 hours drive)
This morning, you will be driven to Pushkar. On arrival, check in to the hotel of your choice. Later visit the Pushkar fair.
Nov 19 (Friday): Pushkar
See the most famous Pushkar Camel fair. Held every year on Kartik Poornima (full moon in October - November), Pushkar Camel Fair is an event that paints the barren desert with vivid colors. At this time, the town is overflowing with tribal people from all over Rajasthan, pilgrims from all over India and filmmakers and tourists from all over the world. Pushkar Camel fair tours allow travelers to explore the cultural heritage of the region. Besides Camels, Horses and Bullocks are also sold here. The people in their colorful attires enhance the cheerful mood of the fair. Pushkar abounds in temples and also has the temple of Lord Brahma.
Take a dip into the sacred waters of the lake and participate in religious activities during Pushkar camel fair tours. Nov 20 (Saturday): Pushkar - Delhi (By train Shatabdi Express - 1530 hours / 2245 hours)
In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Ajmer railway station. Upon arrival, you will be taken to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.
Nov 21 (Sunday): Delhi Departure
You may spend morning time in shopping or sightseeing. After check out, transfer to the International airport to catch the flight for onward journey.
