The Bandhavgarh National Park is located in the district of Sahdol in Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state. The Bandhavgarh National Park lies amidst the Vindhya hills. The park came into being in 1968 when Maharaja of Rewa handed over the area to the government. Soon it became a protected area, where animals flourish in their natural abode. Bandhavgarh National Park covers an area of 448 sq km. The park is declared as a tiger reserve under project tiger in 1993.

There are a large variety of animals and birds at Bandhavgarh National Park. Tourists can easily catch glimpses of the tigers, leopards, gaurs or Indian bison, spotted dear, sambhar deer, dholes, nilgais, wild boars, chinkaras, sloth bears, rhesus macaques, black faced langurs, lungle cats, hyenas, porcupines, jackles, foxes, wild dogs, chausinghas, ratels and the list goes on. Bandhavgarh National Park is basically famous for the big cat population all over the world.

Umaria is the closest railway station to Bandhavgarh National Park and there is a direct train from Delhi to Umaria named Utkal Express. Umaria is 32 km away from Bandhavgarh Park and there are many buses and jeeps available from Umaria to reach Bandhavgarh National Park. Another place called Satna is 120 km from the National Park and is connected to major cities of the country through rail and road.
